Win an Area Rug at Shak In Style

When my husband and I bought our home, we replaced the ugly, brown, shabby shag with soft cream colored carpeting. Did you read that right? Cream colored carpet. I was asking for trouble. But you see, we didn't have our dog or kids at that time so we didn't exactly think ahead to the consequences of light colored floors and all the cleaning and spot treating we'd be doing in the years to come.

After we got Murphy (our adorable dog) we purchased a cheap Berber rug from Sam's Club. It was so cheap that we threw it out a few years later. The center would bunch up and I can't even count how many times I tripped on it.

When Dawson was born we used smaller rugs to cover the parts of the living room that would receive the most wear. Now that our son is entering the preschool years and loves crayons, markers and paint, we realize we will need to buy a new, more durable rug to cover our precious cream carpet.

Except, area rugs are expensive. The good ones are almost always $300 or more. Something I'm not willing to spend just yet. I thought of going to Walmart to buy a less expensive solution, but my very picky husband feels that would be a waste of money if it's anything like the Sam's rug now covering the floor of the garage.
