When I discovered I was pregnant with Dawson, the countdown to his birth day seemed like an eternity. My pregnancy consumed me. Every twinge, every pregnancy ailment I experienced, had me question whether my baby was alright as well as cause me to be more impatient. I couldn't wait to hold my baby in my arms.To keep me occupied for the duration of nine months, I ran to the book store and purchased an arm load of pregnancy books, one of which was The Pregnancy Journal.
The Pregnancy Journal is a wonderful companion to any pregnancy whether it's your first or your 18th. It highlights important information about how Baby grows inside the womb, the physical and emotional changes Mom-to-Be experiences throughout her pregnancy, and offers factual information about nutrition and maternal health.
Just like many pregnancy books, The Pregnancy Journal has chapters for the nine lunar months of pregnancy, but within each month this journal offers about half a page of information for each day, from conception through delivery, as well as space for recording your thoughts.
There is also a place to record your mood, energy, appetite, morning sickness and cravings each day, and your weight and waist size each week; a wonderful keepsake for your child to look back on when he or she is old enough.
The Pregnancy Journal was first published in 1996, and has sold more than a million copies which has made it the definitive companion for parents-to-be. The second edition now includes new & updated facts about prenatal development, greatly enhanced nutritional tips, information about second-time pregnancies (including preparing an older child for the birth of a sibling), expanded coverage of breastfeeding, and more facts about doula-attended births. It also offers more room for notes and journaling than the previous edition.
The Pregnancy Journal is easily one of the best books available for a woman or couple expecting a baby. It's wealth of practical information, medical data and emotional nourishment make it easier for the expectant mother to enjoy her pregnancy. It certainly helped me to let go of some of my "New Mama" anxiety, too. If there was only one pregnancy book I could have purchased, The Pregnancy Journal would be my choice.
